Regarding graphics
Hans Fronius was born in the Austro-Hungarian monarchy. When he was 11 years old he was an eyewitness of the assault which released the 1st World War. His childhood was determined by the expiring glory and ruin of Old Austria. The fatal horrors of the 20th century were also shaping the basic mental values of his art. Fronius was always a subtle presenter of human ideas and fears. He mostly chose themes which made the unavoidable fate of human existence visible. Since his early youth he had found analogies of his way of thinking in the works of Dostojewskij, Tschechow, Balzac, Poe and particularly Kafka.
Fronius achieved worldwide approval as an illustrator. In his works print- graphics take an essential place. Here you can see his artistic development from rudimentary skills to elaborate techniques and disgn. Print-graphics as well offer a topical and stylistic key to the rest of his work. Early wood-engravings with their expressive design gave way to the more refined diagrammatic possibilities of lithography after the 2nd World War. During the last decades of his life etching gained more and more importance. There all of the themes which had been worked out by Fronius in the course of time were once again varied in the etching-skills or designed anew.
Fronius performed a cosmos of pictures, the scenes of which were gathered from the word of history and the present, and which were bases on the critical and allert perception of a humanist
